An internship with HealthFitness provides students with exposure and/or experience in many, or all, of the following areas:
Utilize an interdisciplinary approach to patient care and recovery, prescribe and progress therapeutic exercise-based interventions for adult patients referred for Cardiac Rehabilitation. Provide ongoing patient assessment to include ECG interpretation and measurements of physiological responses to therapeutic interventions. Appropriately modify therapeutic interventions in accordance with physiological responses, to ensure patient safety and best outcomes possible. Provide appropriate diagnosis, therapeutic and age-related patient and care provider education. Education is provided one-on-one and in group settings. Exercise independent judgment and decision-making within the limitations and scope of practice.

Reston Corporate fitness center is seeking a full time (30 hours/week) fitness specialist.
Teaching a variety of group exercise formats
Exercise program design
Weight floor supervision
Designing incentive programs
Assisting with various managerial projects.
Performing fitness assessments (body fat w/skin fold calipers, resting BP & HR, and strength & flexibility)
Position requirements: BA/BS in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field required and a national certification. Must have current CPR/First Aid/AED certification and be able to teach group exercise classes. Corporate fitness and wellness experience a plus. Job Title: Active Sports Clubs. Full Time Lifestyle Coordinator

The Active Sports Clubs Full Time Lifestyle Coordinator has the responsibility of managing the fitness floor, offering assistance to members and guests, and educating Active Sports Clubs members on the safe and correct use of cardio and weight training equipment. This person also performs fitness assessments, provides exercise prescriptions, orientations, answers fitness and health related questions, teaches Group Exercise classes and performs Personal Training.
Other functions include:
Maintain a clean, safe and orderly fitness floor, racking weights, picking up towels, water bottles, magazines, etc.
Schedule and conduct introductory sessions.
Attend departmental and fitness training meetings as well as continuing education classes to keep certifications current.
Assist in development and implementation of new fitness programs/classes, incentive programs, etc.
Minimum Job Requirements
4-year college degree in fitness related field or certificate from accredited 2-year program at a university
Previous health club Personal Training and Group Exercise instruction experience is a plus.
Communication skills, customer service oriented.
Specialized knowledge, licenses, etc.:
Operational knowledge of resistance training equipment and proper form
Knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics
Knowledge of appropriate exercises for specific muscle groups
Knowledge of injury prevention and basic rehabilitation
Ability to calculate target heart rate
Basic knowledge in nutrition
CPR and First Aid certifications
Minimum one (1) nationally recognized certification from one of the following:

• Five days a week of instructor led exercise classes, small groups and private training individuals that focuses on strength, flexibility, balance, posture and the cardiovascular system for all Senior Functional Capacities (Strength and Conditioning (3 levels), Water Fitness, Balance/Fall Prevention classes)
• Administer comprehensive health and fitness evaluations (Senior Fitness Test), blood pressure, strength and flexibility tests, weight management, postural screening, Gait and Balance Analysis.
• Management of BSDI Motivation Software Program
• Maintenance of all resident medical clearances, health status questionnaires for all residents participating in exercise programs
